Filmmaker and writer Lizzi Oyebode is the 2024 Sundance Institute | Alfred P. Sloan Commissioning Grant recipient for her film project INVERSES. Her debut drama screenplay TWEEN THE ROPES has earned numerous accolades, including a Nicholl Fellowship from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and a Slamdance Screenplay Competition prize. Her historical drama project STRANGE FRUIT was awarded an SFFILM Rainin Grant and won the Writers Guild of America West (WGAW)–DreamAgo Feature Pitch Competition. Her biographical screenplay SEXTON has received honors from the WGAW and The Black List.
Lizzi has a background in live and animated comedy. She is an accomplished improviser and sketch performer who graduated from the Los Angeles outposts of iO and Second City, and trained with the Groundlings and Upright Citizens Brigade. She has performed stand-up across the country and was voted one of the funniest comedians in Washington, DC, and Baltimore.
